Panthers XC meets challenges

Two challenging meets ahead

With two challenging meets just ahead, the Rugby High Panthers cross country varsity team traveled to Graham's Island State Park Saturday for the Devils Lake Invitational.

The Panthers met cross country teams from both Class A and B schools and finished among the top times both as teams and individuals.

Rugby varsity girls finished in first place for their 5000-meter event with 30 team points.

Lady Panther Quinn Neppl finished with the best time for Rugby. Her 21 minute, 19 second finished earned her third place overall.

Other Lady Panthers finishers were: Brooklyn Bartsch, fourth place, 21:28; Keely Arnston, fifth place, 21:35; Amelia Shepard, seventh place, 21:52; Kendyl Hager, 11th place, 22:36; Ellie Duchscherer, 12th place, 22:41; Ella Jacobson, 13th place, 22:43; Joey Wolf, 19th place, 23:34; Rylie Suchor, 23rd place, 24:22; Mikaylee Livedalen, 25th place, 24:33; Mya Geisinger, 30th place, 24:40; Kinsey Arnston, 31st place, 25:40; Haley Mayer, 35th place, 26:17; Anna Clements, 44th place, 27:14; Kristina Brossart, 47th place, 28:05.

The Panthers boys team finished in the No. 4 spot for their 5000-meter event with 132 team points. Jamestown, Devils Lake and Langdon Area/Edmore/Munich finished ahead of Rugby for the day.

Austin Dibble finished in sixth place for the event; his finish time of 18:10 was the best for the Panthers.

Other Panthers finishers for the Boys' 5000-meter run were: Dawson Schepp, 17th place, 19:17; Robert Dibble, 33rd place, 20:54; Riley Odden, 36th place, 21:50; Aden Jensen, 40th place, 23:00; Trenton Sanford, 60th place, 27:21.

The Lady Panthers JV squad also finished first in their 3000-meter event. The top Rugby finish time went to Ashlyn Dibble, who took eighth place in 14:18.

Other JV Lady Panthers finishers were: Jaclyn Duchscherer, ninth place, 14:20; Rylah Hager, 11th place, 14:28; Mya McNeff, 14th place, 15:35; Sophie Oppen, 20th place, 16:14.

Rugby JV boys finished in fifth place overall, their 123-point total behind Warwick, Surrey, Jamestown and Devils Lake. Top Rugby JV finisher in the 3000-meter event was Connor Klein, with a 16th place time of 13:54.

Other JV finishers in the event were Maddex Kirchofner, 18th place, 14:03, and Ethan Sveet, 22nd place, 14:34.

The Panthers travel to Valley City today for the Blue and White Bill Jansen meet at the Bjornson Municipal Golf Course. The Panthers will host the Rugby Booster Club Invitational at the Rugby Golf Club next Saturday.
