Bryce Berginski - Tribune Reporter , Pierce County Tribune

In a regular meeting last Tuesday morning at the Rugby High School conference room, the Rugby Public School District No. 5 Board of Education approved the first readings of two policy revisions.

The board approved the first reading of an update to the policy regarding the FFA advisor's job description. Changes in it reflect the change from a head advisor to co-advisors.

The board approved the first reading of a revised Wellness Policy. The policy was revised after a food service audit report recommended doing so. The revision identifies members of the district's Wellness Committee by position. Committee members include "Counselors, Food Service Staff, Principals, Superintendent, Teachers, Parents and Students."

Other actions

- The board approved a petition that would recognized the Rugby Education Association as a representative organization for a negotiating unit.

- The board approved precincts and designating the high school commons area as the polling place for the next school board election.

- The board approved the consent agenda, which included March meeting minutes, bills, financial reports, resignations for Glenda Mack and Denise Myhre, contract approvals for Savannah Harbaugh, Olivia Erpelding and Kristi Tonnessen, and a tuition agreement with Wolford School.

- The board discussed a meeting Superintendent Mike McNeff had with the City of Rugby's Planning & Zoning Commission; progress on legislation the district had been following; and chapters 4-6 of the book "What School Could Be."
