As a young girl, she worked for her grandparents and later for the Gov. John Davis family before meeting the love of her life, Francis H. Mayer. They were united in marriage on September 1, 1947 in McClusky and made their home on the Mayer farm north of Anamoose where Frances worked at Francis's side, farming and milking

cows. They remained on the farm until Francis passed away in 2016.

Frances was a member of St. Francis-Xavier Catholic Church of Anamoose where she served on various Ladies Circles over the years. She was also a member of the Anamoose Senior Citizens Club and the local Homemakers Club, never missing a chance to host the other ladies.
