Rugby’s oldest living resident turns 106

June 22, 2018
Bonnie Remmick - Tribune Reporter , Pierce County Tribune

On June 18, Inez Thorstenson celebrated her 106th birthday with five generations of women at HAMC Long Term Care where she resides. Kaylee, who is four, presented her great great grandmother with a balloon for her birthday, and cupcakes for dessert after lunch.

Inez is believed to be the oldest living resident in Rugby, and the oldest living graduate from Rugby High School. She never misses hearing a Panther's game and listens faithfully on the radio. And Inez is very much alive. She spent time playing with the little girls with the balloon, and hugging them multiple times. Each day, Inez folds towels and does chores around the long term center to keep herself busy and to serve others.
