Brett Burton
Brett Leroy Burton
Nov. 20, 1957 – Jan. 13, 2018
Brett Leroy Burton passed away on 13 January, 2018, in Oroville California. Brett was the first of twin boys born on 20 November, 1957, in Rugby North Dakota to his
parents Myrtle and Franklin Burton. He grew up on the family farm north of Pleasant Lake, attended grade school in Wolford, and graduated from Wolford High School 1976. He played trombone in the high school band and sang in the choir. During this time, he and his brother Bradley were inseparable, and both attended NDSU Bottineau Branch for one year. Although not identical twins, they looked enough alike to cause confusion many times, leading to some good stories.
Brett moved to California in 1978, working as a property manager while finding time to build a house at Lake Tahoe. Some favorite times were skiing at Tahoe with his
brothers. He then moved to Marysville California and became a farmer. He worked on and helped manage a large prune orchard. Lincoln, his beloved dog, joined him
as a puppy and became his daily companion.
Brett had many talents, including being a certified property manager and an excellent bartender! He could also upholster furniture, fix almost anything, and create wooden toys for his young friends and nephews. He loved antiquing and passed on many of his “finds” to his family and friends. Neighbors Craig and Martha and their grand daughter Isabella became his best friends.
Brett was preceded in death by his parents and his partner, Leonard Roy Camara.
He is survived by three brothers, Bradley, Barry and Floyd, three nephews, Coiin, Tyler, and Brett, and one niece, Emily.
Brett was loved by his family and friends and is greatly missed. He was a happy cheerful person, always willing to give to or help those in need. We love you, Brett.
Friends and family are invited to join the Burton family at grave side services at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, May 5, 2018 at the Burton Lot in Persilla Watts Cemetery in Rugby, North Dakota where he will be laid to rest in Lot 71.
