Beijing Guitar Duo to play concert series

Composed of guitarists Meng Su and Yameng Wang, the Beijing Guitar Duo has performed throughout Europe, Asia and North America. This past season took them to Germany, Russia, Spain, Denmark, Poland, China, Panama and the United States.

Their current tour in the United States brings them to Rugby to perform under the auspices of the Heart of America Concert Series. Their appearance here takes place at the Tilman Hovland Auditorium on Tuesday, Feb. 13, at 7:30 p.m.

These two virtuoso performers play a largely, but not entirely, classical program, and play it completely FROM MEMORY!

Meng Su and Yameng Wang were both born in the coastal city of Quingdao, China. Each has earned exceptional credentials including a string of competition awards including such prestigious competitions as the Tokyo International Guitar Competition, the Christopher Parkening Young Guitarist Competition and the Vienna Youth Guitar Competitionall before they formed the Beijing Guitar Duo. Both hold Master's Degrees from the Peabody Institute in Baltimore.

Since 2011 they have been Artists-in-residence in San Francisco a four year residency program that brings them to the Bay Area every year for community outreach, performances, and master classes in public schools as well as for the San Francisco Conservatory.

Their debut CD Maracalpe, received a Latin-GRAMMY nomination.

The Beijing Guitar Duo's performances and recordings have impressed the public with "an ability and artistry that exceeds their years."
