The Heart of America Medical Center added new lines of service to its care programs.

In a report given to attendees of an annual meeting of the Good Samaritan Hospital Association last week, HAMC CEO Patrick Branco said HAMC is providing a chemotherapy and infusion suite for cancer care, treatment for migraine headaches, a ketamine clinic, a full service clinic in Towner and support in the Rolette area.

Branco addressed the hospital's future needs, including up-to-date emergency and operating rooms, expanding the care center, renovating the acute care wing and providing additional cancer treatment services.

Other actions

- Erik Christenson and Julie Baustad gave an update on the completed chemotherapy and infusion care suite. Board member Bonita Lindseth, representing the Rugby area, asked how many patients the new suite can see at a time. The suite can accommodate two patients at a time.

- Chris Bubach, representing the Leeds area, and Pat Heggen, representing the Dunseith area, were re-elected to serve three year terms on the GSHA board. Board members are nominated by member congregations in the Balta-Orrin, Dunseith, Leeds, Maddock, Rolette-Wolford, Towner, Rugby and Willow City areas. The board fills two positions, an at-large position and the physicians' representative, at their discretion.
