Alice Catherine (Walter) Brossart

Jul. 6, 1928- Oct. 9, 2017

Alice Catherine (Walter) Brossart, the daughter of Frank and Catherine (Abel) Walter was born on July 6, 1928 near Verendrye, North Dakota. She died at the age of 89 years on Monday, October 9, 2017 at the Heart of America Medical Center in Rugby, North Dakota.

Alice grew up and received her education in Verendrye and later attended and graduated from Karlsruhe High School. On October 23, 1950, Alice was united in

marriage to Valentine Brossart in Karlsruhe. Together they made their home and raised their family of nine children on a farm north of Rugby. In 1994, they moved into their new home in Rugby. Valentine died in 2008. In her later years, she resided at South View Estates and the Heart of America Care Center, both in Rugby, where she received wonderful care and established many treasured friendships with caregivers and fellow residents.

Alice leaves a legacy of love for her faith, family and farm life. She was a loyal member of Little Flower Catholic Church for the past 68 years, the Christian Mothers and

Catholic Daughters. Her strong support and dedication to her children's Catholic education and faith was one of her greatest satisfactions. Alice showed great interest

and actively attended all her children and grandchildren's life activities and milestones. She cherished family gatherings, especially during the holidays, and always provided an abundance of home cooked meals and baked goods. German ethnic foods were her specialty and pride. She loved all aspects of farm life and worked hard to make a living alongside her husband. Some of her greatest interests were taking care of animals, assisting with all kinds of field work, gardening, and

canning.

Alice had many hobbies, including crocheting, quilting, sewing and embroidery. She took great pride in giving these beautiful handmade gifts to her loved ones on spe-

cial occasions. She was a 4-H and Juniorette leader for many years.

Those who have shared in her life are her children, Ronald of Minot and Sun City West, Richard (Jane) of Rugby, Robert of Rugby, David of Minot, Carol (Dale) VanEckhout of Bismarck, Char (Bill) Hartl of Rugby, Allan (special friend, Meryle) of Rugby, Colleen(John) Karels of Fargo and Brian (special friend, Cindy) of Rugby; grandchildren, Connie (Dion) Oscarson, Kyle (Jen) Brossart, Casey (Mariah) Brossart, Allison and Arron Brossart, Jaden, Brendan and Kristen VanEckhout, Bobby and

Rachael Hartl, and Samantha Wurgler; great grandchildren, Callie and Mia Oscarson and Carter Brossart; step-great grand-daughter, Kylie Johnson;brothers, Ray-mond Walter of Minot and Bennie Walter of Velva; a sister, Isabel (Daniel) Brossart; numerous nieces, nephews; other relatives and friends. Those who greeted her in

heaven were her husband; parents; infant daughter; infant granddaughter; sister, Mary (Rochus) Ell; brothers, Joseph and Allen Walter; sisters-in-law, Catherine 'Ket' (Raymond) Walter and Lillian (Bennie) Walter.

Mass of Christian burial held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 13th at Little Flower Catholic Church in Rugby with burial in the church cemetery. Father Tom Graner, Cele-

brant.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday at the Anderson Funeral Home with a Rosary and vigil prayer service beginning at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will con-

tinue on Friday at the funeral home from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. There will be no reviewal at the church.
