VOLLEYBALL: Panthers defeat Raiders

The Panthers faced another District 11 opponent Tuesday evening and managed to come out ahead.

Rugby defeated the Drake-Anamoose Raiders in three sets, 25-10, 25-8, 25-14.

Outside hitter Maria Blessum led the Panthers in both kills (6) and digs (9). Both the Stier sisters, outside hitter Sara and rear hitter Anni, came out with 11 kills between the two of them. The latter of the two led in blocks with 6, while the former came out with four aces and five digs. Setter Alissa Volk led in both assists (11) and service aces (6) on the night.

For the Raiders, outside hitter Emmy Dockter led in both kills (2) and aces. Setter BobbieJo Kuntz, who had the same amount of kills as Dockter, led in assists and came out with four digs to Dockter's five.

The district tour continued Thursday with the A and C-squads traveling to Newburg. The Panthers will host Velva on Oct. 3.

In other district action:

- Velva defeated Nedrose Tuesday 25-16, 25-18 and 25-14.

- Despite losing the first set, 17-25, Towner-Granville-Upham prevailed over Westhope-Newburg on Tuesday. TGU won the following three sets, 25-18, 25-13 and 25-13
