Last week saw the Rugby High School's girls and boys varsity cross country teams both take sixth place at the Hillsboro Earlybird Invitational.

The girls finished ahead of event hosts Hillsboro-Central Valley, but behind of Fargo Davies. The boys also finished behind Fargo Davies, but had a similar score to Hatton-Northwood-Thompson and finished ahead of Ada-Borup-NCW (Minn.).

Tristin Lunde and Ellie Duchscherer led the way for the Panther girls, taking 19th and 20th place respectively out of 128 runners.

For the boys, Riley Zachmeier led the way, taking 14th place out of 148 runners. Kadin Neppl wasn't too far behind, taking 23rd.

The junior high/junior varsity girls took eighth, with Mykell Heidlebaugh taking 14th out of 120 runners. The boys took 12th, with Logan Harner taking 35th place.

The teams competed Friday at a meet in Minot. On Tuesday they will travel to Carrington, and next week they will travel to Griggs County.
