Sister Carol Jean Kuntz

April 10, 1952-May 3, 2017

Sister Carol Jean Kuntz, 65, of Valley City, ND died at Maryvale Convent, Valley City, May 3, 2017. Her funeral mass will be celebrated on Monday, May 8, at 10:30 a.m. in the Maryvale Chapel, Valley City, ND. Visitation will begin with rosary at 4:00 p.m. Sunday, May 7, with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. in the Maryvale Chapel. Father Donald Leiphon will be the Mass celebrant. Interment will be in Maryvale Convent Cemetery.

Sister Carol Jean was born April 10, 1952 in Rugby, ND to Frank and Barbara Kuntz. She attended first grade at Long Lake #1, and from second grade through high school she attended Drake Public School, Drake, ND, graduating in 1970. She entered the Sisters of Mary of the Presentation in 1978, professing her vows August 8, 1980, Valley City, ND. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education from Eureka College, Eureka, Illinois in 1983. She earned a Master's Degree in Religious Studies from Gonzaga University, Spokane, Washington in 1994. Sister Carol Jean taught elementary educa-tion at St. Louis Catholic School, Princeton, Illinois, 1983 1988 and 1993 1996; and St. Patrick's Catholic School, Washington, Illinois 1988 1993. She served her Religious Com-munity in leadership 1996 - 2017.

She is survived by her Religious Community, the Sisters of Mary of the Presentation; her mother Barbara, brothers, Mike (Cindy), Frank, Larry, Bill, Ken, Darryl (Mary

Jeanne), and Wayne (Hilda), and sisters, Betty Bachmeier, Barbara (Kip) Berentson, Mona (Mario Cano) Kuntz, and Candy (Troy) Munyer and numerous nieces and

nephews.

Sister Carol Jean was preceded in death by her father Frank, her infant brother Neil, brother-in-law Peter Bachmeier, sister-in-law Nita Kuntz, and nephew Myles Kuntz.
