A Rugby man is charged with multiple felonies for allegedly assaulting and threatening a woman on March 12.
Joey Allen Mattern, 40, is charged with aggravated assault-domestic violence, felonious restraint and terrorizing, all Class C felonies, and disorderly conduct, a Class B misdemeanor. He made an initial appearance in district court in Rugby on Tuesday.
According to a probable cause affidavit filed with the court, Mattern shoved, choked and hit a woman at a residence in Rugby, prevented the woman from leaving the residence, and told the woman that they both had to die that night. Mattern was also allegedly combative and aggressive with medical personnel at the Heart of America Medical Center, called a female police officer rude names and urinated on the hospital floor on March 12.
Mattern could face more than 15 years in prison if convicted of all the charges against him.
