Commission amends conditional use ordinance

March 24, 2017
Bryce Berginski - Tribune Reporter , Pierce County Tribune

At a special session Tuesday morning, the Board of County Commissioners voted to change an ordinance regarding conditional use permits.

Changes were made to Item G of Section 4 (agricultural district) - Article 3, which pertains to rock crushers, concrete and asphalt mix stations, or any excavation surface mining. The owner of the processed product would be responsible for obtaining a conditional use permit.

The board unanimously voted on the change after no written comments were received and no public comments were heard due to no attendance at a public hearing Tuesday morning.

(sub.) Other actions

- The board approved a transfer of $100,000 from the County Poor Relief fund to the Social Welfare fund.

- The board discussed the heating system for the courthouse and the Social Services building. Auditor-Treasurer Karin Fursather said there was a grant available, but a cost and savings analysis would need to be done before applying for it. The board discussed a notice for bids as well as the possibility of a bond. Chairman Dave Migler said the board should "see what [Pierce County State's Attorney] Galen [Mack] has to say."
