Pierce County Tribune

The Rugby High School wrestling team competed last week in a quadrangular against Kenmare-Bowbells, Mondak Thunder and Des Lacs-Burlington.

The event saw Riley Zachmeier and D.J. Schneibel prevail against two opponents after each winning a match by forfeit. Zachmeier defeated Des Lacs-Burlington's Weston Wahus by technical fall and Mondak Thunder's Saidee Nelson by fall. Schneibel defeated both his opponents by fall: Kenmare-Bowbells' Zane Miller and Mondak Thunder's Cole Berg.

Newcomer to the team Aiden Jensen was able to get a decisive victory on the night, one against Nicholai Topolski (Kenmare-Bowbells). Jensen also prevailed against Mondak Thunder's Ashden Christian, felling him 1 minute and 20 seconds into the match.

Junior Joey Berg had two victories on the night, defeating Kenmare-Bowbells' Payton Witt by technical fall and Naomi Njos by fall. Berg lost by decision to Des Lacs-Burlington's Colton Bartuska.

Berg's classmate Kaden Jaeger won out over Tristen Richardsen and Jacob Ruden, the latter by decision.
