The Rugby FFA Agricultural Technologies and Mechanics team competed in Indianapolis, Ind., on Oct. 19 and 20. They represented the State of North Dakota for this year's competition.
The Rugby Team placed 12th in the nation and received a Gold award in their competition. They competed in five individual events and a team event. The five individual events consisted of; flux core welding, electrical wiring of a GFCI breaker and Aeration fan for a barn, troubleshooting a Case FHX 300 Corn Chopper, troubleshooting a Briggs and Stratton OHV engine, and surveying/calculating the capacity of a compost pile. The team event this year was on the proper ways to construct a rafter and to make the process more streamlined.
On the way back from the competition the team was able to have some fun and see the Indianapolis Speedway and museum as well as a NDSU Bison game against Western Illinois. The team consisted of Cade Heilman, son of Kevin and Brenda Heilman; Peyton Livedalen, son of Shane and Rhonda Livedalen; Kade Leier, son of LeeAllen and Rebecca Leier; and Devin Vetsch son of Larry and Margaret Vetsch. The team was coached by Travis Fritel.
