Boys Golf: Season Opens With Third Place Finish

By Staff | Apr 15, 2016

The Rugby High School boys’ golf team opened their season with a third place finish last week at the Velva Invitational.

Region rivals Northern Lights took first place at the meet with 330 as a whole and three golfers, senior Dalton Poitra, sophomore Kyler McGillis and junior Brody Cahill taking first, second and fifth individually.

Rugby made out with 379 as a team, and senior Levi Pollman and junior Ben Hershey as the top two golfers for the team.

On Tuesday the boys competed at the Glenburn Invitational at the Minot Air Force base. Northern Lights proved to be tough to beat as a team, with four taking up the top-7 best spots on the tournament.

Pollman again led Rugby, scoring 91 in 18 holes of golf.

The boys’ team has their next meet in Harvey.
