A new library director has recently joined the staff of the Heart of America Library.
Michael Jan, originally from Jamestown, comes to Rugby after living in both Milwaukee and Stevens Point, Wisconsin.
He attended graduate school at the University of Wisconsin--Milwaukee, and worked as a cook through college. He graduated from college with Master's degrees in Library Information Science and history. He then worked for four years as an archivist for Harley Davidson, and as the Records Manager for the University of Wisconsin--Stevens Point.
After living in big cities, Jan decided he wanted to return to North Dakota, where he had relatives. It took a bit of an adjustment from living in bigger cities, but Jan is adjusting well.
"I'm enjoying Rugby, it's a nice town," Jan said.
In addition to the town of Rugby, Jan also enjoys cooking, hunting, fishing, going for bicycle rides and listening to jazz records.
