The Rugby Jaycees held a poker tournament on Saturday, Feb. 26 at Jester's Lounge. Eighty-five players participated in the event, with $8,500 being paid out to the top 10 place winners. Net proceeds in the amount of $1,000 will be donated to the Rugby Community Chest, which includes several local non-profit organizations.
Seven players won their way into the tournament during satellite tournaments held the night before, Friday, Feb. 25.
The top 10 place winners from the Jaycee's tournament were: Tom Alveshere, Harvey, 1st; D.R. Davies, 2nd; John Ulland, 3rd; Steve Senger, 4th; Craig Johnson, Rugby, 5th; Eric Zietz, Rugby, 6th; Randy Brunelly, 7th; Todd Munyer, Rugby, 8th; RaeLa Schilousky, Rugby, 9th; Josh Zietz, 10th.
According to Chad Hager, Rugby Jaycees, it was one of the best tournaments Rugby has had in quite some time thanks to the Rugby Community Chest, Jester's Lounge, Eric Nordstrom (tournament coordinator), volunteer dealers, and, especially, the players.
